Review for Labrador Rescuers, San Diego, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We were looking for a companion dog for our current dog as we had two of our other dogs pass away within a year. After relaying our needs and wish list along with a couple of names of dogs we saw on the website, the social worker emailed promptly and then came over within a day of our application and had a couple of dogs with her. Glad she did as the first one we think there was an issue with having just been spayed. She brought out Ticky, now named Bucky after Captain America's best friend, and Ticky and our current dog Mona just followed each other around with tails wagging. Though we were told that Bucky was shy around men, he took to my husband and my two teenage boys (in fact, he went to go find the boys in their rooms). Our social worker told us all that she knew about Bucky while she watched the interaction between us and between the dogs including that he wasn't showing signs of having been trained nor really walked on a leash so that assisted us in how to help him (my husband was a K9 handler for the police department and is now the SGT that oversees them all). This first 24 hours has been going well: Bucky has done his first 1 1/2 mile jog on a leash, has eaten, found his secure spot under my youngest son's bed, knows how to get in/out of the doggie door, knows where we'd like him to use the restroom, etc. Our social worker and I have stayed in touch so that we can see Bucky is acclimating. Definitely thankful for Lab Rescuers. This is our third Lab we've owned and our first rescue outside of the Humane Society.
