I moved to Georgia not knowing how my life would be changed in such a profound way! Being an empty nester in a new state, I set out to volunteer. That's where Save the Horses comes in. After attending their orientation I started to volunteer three days a week. The owner, Cheryl Flanagan, and the people who volunteer there took me in and embraced me as a friend right away. After seeing all the good that Cheryl does through this organization I immersed myself in volunteering not only with chores but spending hours with these beautiful souls...meditating, grooming, and just sharing space, helping them become comfortable with people again. My experience over the past nine months has impacted me so greatly that I have taken natural horsemanship classes and can no longer separate myself from horse rescue life. Although I was sad to move out of Georgia I am happy to say that I have adopted one of the rescues and I'm thrilled to welcome Tucker into our family! My heart is so full and I am so grateful for everything this organization does!
