Review for US Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Arlington, VA, USA
So far, the decision to join Sea Cadets has been one the very best decisions of my life. Instead of sitting at home playing video games during winter, spring, and summer breaks I got to do things like qualify for an advanced SCUBA certification diving in Key Largo, FL, pilot a yard patrol ship around Lake Michigan, build underwater remote control vehicles, torpedoes, and rockets from scratch at Camp Pendleton, fight to harden networks against professional hackers during the National Finals CyberPatriot competition in Washington, DC, sail a 19thâcentury schooner around Catalina Island off the California coast and earn an expert marksmanship ribbon with an M4. It wasn't all just fun and games, though. A large part of the program is giving back to the community through hundreds of hours of volunteer service and honoring those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Whether providing escort services for WWII honor flights or ringing the bell during a sunrise memorial while widows watch the ashes of their fallen SEAL husbands be spread across the ocean, I know what I do makes a difference in the lives of others. Over the past six years I have developed valuable leadership skills and learned so much more than I ever believed possible. Sea Cadets is an INCREDIBLE youth program!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Ask Congress to increase the budget so more Cadets can attend trainings at a more affordable price.
