Review for Oklahoma Life Skills Association: Special Kids, Tulsa, OK, USA
My child has been going to Special Kids for several years now. The staff had been dedicated to helping him develope into a productive person. They redirect him at the time it is needed. They've helped him feel better about himself and I am truly grateful for them being there for me. There is no other place in Tulsa that will take these kids. Most of these kids are kicked out of typical child care centers because the centers don't know how to deal with the kids challanges. Special Kids is always sending staff for training in ways to cope and handle different types of special challanges so they can care for these children in a meaningful way that will not only help the child but also the parents. Special Kids are not only there for the child but also for the parents. They are family oriented. They helped me understand my childs needs when I had no clue. They helped me through some very difficult times. I am a single grandparent raising a special needs child and there is no way I could have made it this far without all their help. However they can't pay their staff what they are worth, the funding just isn't available. Staff is dedicated to this cause. They need more space and more funding in order to better serve their clientel. Check out their website to get a better idea of what they are all about, the children in the photos are the children they serve. www.specialkidscare.org

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The way my child and I interact, the way he accepts his challanges and in his compassion towards others. Also in the way my child handles his anger issues.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Their ability to handle every challange thrown their way. The loving and compassionate way they work with children and families.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
exceptional
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
take in all the children that need this service not just a few. Custom build a building that would provide all the services that these kids need along with playground equipment and special equipment and toys.
