I don't recall how we first became acquainted with St. Joseph's Indian School, but it was quite a few years ago. We were looking to learn about our Native American brothers and sisters. When we read about St. Joseph's we were intrigued by how the Lakota language and customs were heavily incorporated in the school. We decided that we wanted to contribute to the school and set up a monthly donation. On traveling through South Dakota one year we made plans to stop there. We received a warm and gracious welcome and a lovely tour through the school and campus. We were so impressed with the housing there for the students since they live on campus during the school year. The homes are set up family style with house parents and several students in each home. I hope that more people can become aware of this wonderful school and contribute to it.
