Review for iEARN-USA (International Education and Resource Network) , New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Mustapha Louznadji, a former high school teacher and high school inspector of English for 35 years experience is now a manager of Al Falah Private School and educational consultant in Al Hayet School in Oran- Algeria.
My partnership with iEARN started in the year 2013. This partnership started between ELT@lgeria, the network I founded and iEARN. I started as a participant to the CSYN Online Course where I got many new ideas on Project-based learning which I made into practice while delivering workshops in my inspectorate districts and wherever I am invited to deliver workshops on PBL around the country. Then, with the country coordinator, Ms Kheira Mezough, I have participated in all the activities and events organized around the country. We have been working in collaboration to recruit teachers, conduct workshops, and train select participants to prepare them both for the online course and iEARN Global Collaborative Projects. I have been an iEARN online course facilitator since 2013. In addition, I volunteered as a Project Practicum Facilitator in Fall 2017 and Spring 2018.
Our activities also include visits to the concerned schools where we encourage both teachers and students to work on iEARN Global Collaborative projects. In addition, we maintain their motivation until they give their exhibitions in front of a varied audience.
My story with iEARN is a very rich experience since I travel around the country to spread iEARN’s principles in Algeria, and share our achievements and success stories with our peers.
In the last 5 years we have covered many rural and urban areas from West to East and North to South. Miles and miles covered in the largest country of Africa were worth being done for the sake of promoting iEARN Collaborative and Global projects. It was a challenging adventure, but we managed to reach 300 teachers and around 100 students from remote areas and big cities. All in all, we have reached 35 out of 48 states around the country.
We already attended an iEARN annual conference in Doha, Qatar where we shared our experiences with PBL and learned with peers from around the world. We got fresh ideas while attending inspiring workshops with experts from Buck Institute for Education (BIE). We also improved our PBL existing knowledge when getting constructive feedback from participants who attended our presentation; ‘My Global Family in Doha’ https://eltalgeria-ime.webs.com/my-global-family-in-qatar
In April 2017, we organized our first national iEARN@lgeria event where all participants to iEARN previous online courses were invited to share their experiences with iEARN Collaborative Global Projects. Then our second national event was held in the east of Algeria, precisely in Guelma. https://www.mosaicnorthafrica.com/guelma-historical-site-algeria/
On March 17, 2018, we participated in the English Language Forum Organized by AMIDEAST. The panel was about online opportunities for teachers and iEARN@lgeria Success Stories. On March 20, 2018, we held a regional BRIDGE workshop and project exhibition in Bechar where three states from the South of the country including Al Bayadh, Naima and Bechar took part. https://iearn-algeria.webs.com
With iEARN, I have got exciting and inspiring new ideas and made amazing connections online, but there is nothing better than getting learning opportunities through the serendipity of a live iEARN annual conference that I can bring back to my country where I share my learning with the local community of educators. I can also do it in the future live events with the MENA educators. Attending the 2018 iEARN Conference in Winchester is an opportunity to step out the privacy of my own office and exchange ideas with iEARN staff around the world, my online course co-facilitators as well as former and current participants in the CSYN and BRIDGE Programs. It is, in fact, a way to form new relationships and strengthen existing ones. The benefits when attending Winchester Conference were just great! I attended multitudes of presentations on a variety of topics from which I got inspired for future actions. I met my co-facilitators in-person, visited places of interests and had amazing moments discussing and sharing ideas in the cultural nights ceremonies. It was also an opportunity to share my own experience with Project-Based Learning since I have joined iEARN in the year 2013. And my presentation was an attempt to motivate online course participants to remain focused. https://www.iearn2018.org/sessions/how-to-boost-teachers-and-students-motivation-for-online-global-collaborative-projects

To conclude, I would keep working in collaboration with the country coordinator; we will try to manage an iEARN Center in Algeria which will be hosted by Al Falah private school where I work as a manager. We will keep informing and involving educators for future online courses, and national events iEARN@lgeria will organize. We will also engage educators to participate in activities at the American Cultural Centers around the country. We are also planning to apply for Stevens Initiative grant to have further global collaborative projects.
The focus of our future work will be on enabling the Algerian youth to connect with their peers from around the world to become global citizens who make the difference locally, regionally and globally…
iEARN offers all opportunities to remain global!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Organizing iEARN annual conference in an African country could be great!

My story with iEARN is amazing. I started working as a participant to the CSYN Online Course for four weeks where I learned plenty of things on Project-based learning. Then, I implemented all the principles of iEARN with teachers I am in charge of. (I am a high school supervisor). I started working with iEARNlgeria country coordinator. We organized face-to-face meetings around the country. Then, i became an online couse faciltator. I have trained many participants from the US and the MENA. I also participated in the iEARN Annual Conference in Qatar where I delivered a workshop. I met many iEARNers there. We have just organized our national event where we trained the Algerian participants to the BRIDGE Online Course to be ready for the practicum. Working with iEARN is a blessing. It is becoming a family, a community I cannot live without it.
