I have been volunteering at The Children's Village for six years. I am part of a group of parents who visit the youngest 'Cottage' of boys at CV every month. These boys are age 6-14, and some are experiencing their first stable 'home' with the help of Miss Meggie and the other Supervisors of their Cottage.
The boys are living together, learing all of the big and small lessons we were given without a second thought by our parents: sharing, saying 'please' and 'thank you', shaking people's hands when you meet them. But the hugs we get when we walk in the door for a visit are something that cannot be taught, they are something that comes from the heart. The feeling of being loved. Along with discipline, education, and life skills, these little boys get love at Children's Village.
