Developing a partnership with Planet Startup brings Computer Science from drills and assignments to authentic real world experiences. Our partnership provides an opportunity for Lauderhill 6-12 students to develop projects (websites, mobile apps) that address current relevant needs of the local community. Student motivation, excitement, and engagement have improved knowing that their ideas can help others and with investor support original ideas can come to fruition. Planet Startup’s internship model creates a direct link of knowledge and skills into practice; the feedback students receive for industry experts is immeasurable.
