This organization treats their local employees terribly and is very irresponsible with the donations they receive! They could not offer any of the services that they do without local Ugandan staff who are passionate about caring for children. Yet the local staff is paid a disgraceful salary despite being highly qualified and hard working. And what's more, staff are ignored or fired if they try to stand up for themselves. All these volunteers have such great experiences because the local staff is being exploited. Before you donate or participate in any way, please ask them for financial accountability: how much of their budget goes to paying school fees? to the medical center? to paying their American staff? to paying the Ugandan staff?
We are so sorry to hear of your negative feelings towards our organization. We truly value and love our employees and agree that their contributions are key to our success. We provide them all with very competitive salaries based on the Ugandan market, free housing, all of their meals every day of the week, health coverage for themselves and their families, school fees for many of our employee's kids, paid time off and a very good, loving work environment. For the past 15 years, we have helped hundreds of children with hundreds of thousands of dollars of direct support every year. God bless you.
