Review for International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS), Durham, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been involved with IANDS since the mid-1980s when, as a doctoral student, I conducted my first research study on near-death experiences (NDEs). As the only organization dedicated to research on these phenomena and support of people who experience them, IANDS has remained one of my top-affiliated organizations all these years. The leadership has sought to meet the needs of a diverse membership, including NDErs themselves, people with related transpersonal experiences such as after-death communication and past-life memories, and researchers, educators, and healthcare providers of people with such experiences. From its rich website to its annual conference to its 50+ local support and interest groups around the US and across the world to its newsletter and its scholarly journal, this organization has something to offer to anyone with personal and/or professional interest in NDEs and related phenomena. As a professor of counseling who has focused my research on the implications of transpersonal experiences both for counseling and for humanity's understanding of consciousness, I've considered IANDS one of my primary professional homes.
