I am the proud owner of not one, but two incredible horses because of Esta at Saffrey Sanctuary. It began almost a year ago when I was considering this wonderful horse who was in need of a new home. He had a touching story how he had been a race horse, and now retired though still quite young he had developed a melanoma right above his right eye region. I fell in love with his story and his pictures, though I was a bit concerned about taking on the cancer. As I had intially contacted Esta about adopting one of her rescues initially (though he had just been adopted), I was so touched by her willingness to spend lots of time on the phone with me about a horses diet and nutrition etc... I knew that she would be the one to guide me with my decision. We spoke at great length and after explaining my trepidation with regards to his situation she said to me "Teresa, if your souls connect when you meet him, then if it were me I wouldn't let the cancer detour me from taking him home".... she went on to tell me of how she became a horse rescuer and healer. It was because she connected with a horse with all kinds of health issues and no one wanted to take him on.... she not only did that... she helped him heal as well. She told me how that experience changed her life for the better. I got off the phone that day, went to meet my new love and never looked back. Best decision I ever made.
Just recently as I was checking in on her website, I again saw this beautiful picture of a horse.... and yes, he had a story too. This time it was a hoof issue that A vet was ready to write off. Esta would never let that happen. Now because of her love for these incredible creatures I have another tremendous gift of another wonderful horse. Esta is a wealth of information and always there for any support needed throughout. A holistic approach and tons of love and TLC..... that can heal anything. Thank you Esta and your wonderful crew of helpers and volunteers out at Saffyre Sancturay. I am a forever fan and eternally grateful.
