As a retired single female I found my second 'career' volunteering at Briggs/NHES walking the dogs around the grounds. I started my volunteering as a way to give back to my community and ended up with a greater respect for the dogs & cats they shelter, and the hard work involved in carrying for these lovable animals waiting for their forever home. The staff provided an extensive training session for the volunteers before being allowed to interact with the dogs which I had not experienced with other shelters where I volunteered. I learned new methods that I was able to use with my own dogs at home and have a great respect for this organization and the charitable work they do every day. When I'm ready for another dog I will be coming to Briggs.
