Review for Center for Judicial Excellence, San Rafael, CA, USA
Most people are unaware that custody courts have failed to integrate current scientific research and routinely use professionals without the specialized knowledge about domestic violence and child abuse that is needed. As a result, custody courts are tilted towards abusive fathers and hurting children. The Center for Judicial Excellence is the leading organization in promoting needed reform. Their research that over 860 children have been murdered in the last 13 years, mostly by abusive fathers and because of the outdated and discredited practices demonstrate the need for reform better than anything.
Review for Stop Abuse Campaign, Bronx, NY, USA
The ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Studies from the CDC provides the sad information that exposure to domestic violence and child abuse is far more harmful than previously understood. Even non-physical abuse is likely to shorten lives and cause a lifetime of health problems mostly from the stress. The good news, however is that prevention could be used to reduce cancer, heart disease, mental illness, substance abuse, suicide and many other scourges of society. The mission of the Stop Abuse Campaign is therefore to prevent ACEs. Many people don't know that custody courts relying on outdated and discredited practices routinely send children to abusers. The Stop Abuse Campaign has developed the Safe Child Act which is a group of best practices based on the belief that the health and safety of children should be the first priority and courts should integrate current research. They have promoted the Safe Child Act and educated professionals and the general public. This is important work because our children are suffering.
Review for Center for Judicial Excellence, San Rafael, CA, USA
I have worked with the Center for Judicial Excellence concerning the broken custody court system and have always been impressed with the great work they do. They make such an important contribution to keeping children safe.
Review for National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Austin, TX, USA
We have a calamity in the custody court in their response to domestic violence. The courts do not have the training they need and routinely place children in danger. The NCADV is one of the organizations that gets it and provides enormous support for protective mothers. Anything I have ever requested to help protect battererd mothers and their children has been enthusiastically provided. I wish I could say the same for the courts.

Review for National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Austin, TX, USA
The NCADV is the leading organization in the country working to end men's violence against women. In speaking to women around the world, I have repeatedly heard how fortunate we are in this country to have an organization like this. They have the moral authority to speak on behalf of women partnered with abusers and I particularly appreciate the strong support they are providing for protective mothers. Many people in the public are not aware that there is a crisis in the custody court system that has resulted in thousands of children being sent to live with abusers. The NCADV has made this issue a major priority.

I have had wonderful experience working directly with staff and with many other volunteers.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
provide training in domestic violence to the many professionals who influence people's lives but don't understand domestic violence. They could help publicize the problem in this country and work with the media to improve the public's understanding of dv
Ways to make it better...
they were given the resources they need to support all the work that is needed
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the lack of adequate funding, the ignorance of professionals working on cases involving domestic violence (which they often don't recognize), the power and influence of abuser groups.
One thing I'd also say is that...
They are doing a remarkable job with the limited resources they have. We are so lucky to have an organization like the NCADV
