Review for Mission4Maureen, South Euclid, OH, USA
God Bless this Mission and its founders and administration! My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme in April of 2015. After craniotomy, chemotherapy, radiation and laser ablation surgery for recurring tumors all in 2015, he continues his battle against this horrible cancer with daily maintenance chemo, anti seizure meds, steroids and antibiotics.
Not only has Steve not worked since his diagnosis, he also did not qualify for Social Security Disability because he had not paid in enough in self-employment during the preceding five years prior to his diagnosis.
I had been working full time up until March of 2016, when both hands needed carpal tunnel compression release surgery. At the same time, my chronic neck and back issues worsened significantly. All this to say that by October 2016, I was forced to resign from work to access what little retirement I had saved.
Those funds were quickly exhausted by catching up on past due household and medical bills. Once all of our personal resources were exhausted, I found myself without hope for answers. I reached out to the American Cancer Society, who put me in touch with Mission4Maureen.
They reviewed our situation, verified my husband's diagnosis with very little paperwork and quickly responded with their offer to assist. We have been blessed with the funds they paid directly to our home mortgage lender and utility company. They will also assist with the next brain MRI schedeled later this week, as we are now facing huge medical deductibles ($4800) with the new year. Our medical insurance is costing us $978 through Cobra payments with my former employer.
"Thank you" seems so inadequate a response to them! I shelter my husband completely from the financial burdens we face, so it is especially heartwarming to have the helping hands that Mission4Maureen extended to us!
God Bless you!
