Review for The Wild Animal Sanctuary, Keenesburg, CO, USA
We visited the sanctuary last summer and I was blown away! Their primary focus is the animals, not entertaining the public. The work they do for these animals is amazing, they truly make their lives 100% better than before. The animals roam in habitats that are acres and acres, not tiny square boxes.
The volunteers on the catwalk were filled with valuable and interesting information, including the fact that the sanctuary has donated semi-trucks and volunteer drivers that go to different Denver area Wal-Marts to pick up food that is past it's shelf life, but still good, for the animals to eat. They also know the stories of all of the animals and volunteer their time monthly to help make the sanctuary successful for the animals.
The sanctuary puts all animals on some form of birth control so, unlike zoos, they don't continue to contribute to the problem of wild animals in captivity.
During Colorado gives day I made a donation to the sanctuary. A few days later I received a hand-written note thanking me for my donation! It shows they truly value their donors because donations drive the sanctuary. They even have a program sponsored by two generous, anonymous individuals that will match any donations made to their Land Purchase Program so they can continue to grow and improve the lives of more animals in desperate situations.
I can't say enough good things and plan to go back as often as possible! The Wild Animal Sanctuary is the best animal sanctuary, hands down!
