Review for Support Connection Inc, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA
I interned at Support Connection for 8 years during my summers and school breaks. I learned about Support Connection after attending their Support-A-Walk with friends. My mother passed away from ovarian cancer when I was 7, so I was eager to do more for this gem in our community. In addition to the incredible work the staff does for women with cancer, I consider them all mentors and heroes in teaching me about serving others. Working at Support Connection gave me an opportunity to honor my mom, but it also led me down my current career path as a social worker. Despite living in a different state now, I stay in touch with many staff members and remain active as a donor and friend of the organization. An organization like Support Connection could be moving mountains, but is consistently held back by lack of funding. Fundraising is hard for all organizations during this tough economic time, and although donors remain loyal to their work, it is harder and harder to make ends meet. Strategic fundraising help or financial assistance would enable the staff to focus more on client services instead of raising dollars.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing women leaving yoga classes, counseling sessions or support groups looking more relaxed, happy and confident then when they entered.
