I just finished a legal internship here. These people work so hard. And, they do incredibly difficult work. I honestly do not know how they can cope mentally with all of the animal brutality that they have to fight. It was an incredible experience. Please note, the HSUS does NOT have any affiliation with local shelters (e.g. Charleston Humane Society, Washington Humane Society). People always think that they do. They do NOT. They litigate, lobby, work with legislators, help pass legislation, and so much more big picture stuff. Donate to this non-profit if you can.
