Review for Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation, Inc., Marlboro, NJ, USA
Our son, Nico, passed away after a 7 year battle with childhood cancer. It rocked our family to the core and left us feeling alone in our grief. Losing a child after watching them go through things no one should have to endure is traumatizing. A few months after he passed we attended AWO's Hope and Healing Bereavement Retreat where my husband and I met other parents who experienced that same loss and that same trauma. Not only that but our girls met other siblings who had the same experience in losing a sibling. Our family was able to connect with others we could truly relate to and spend time as a family and honor our son and brother. Thank you AWO for that priceless gift.
Review for Biancas Kids , Williamstown, NJ, USA
My son has been fighting relapsed cancer for 6 years, 2/3 of his life. He's never had a proper childhood. He doesn't go to school, he can't ride a bicycle or play sports. A local nonprofit, The Unforgotten Haven, reached out to Bianca's Kids and asked if they could do something special for Nico. Bianca's Kids decided they would bring Christmas to Nico and his sisters. Siblings are often forgotten but Bianca's Kids made sure Nico's sisters were spoiled just the same. And as if Christmas presents weren't enough, Santa delivered the gifts himself! We were also given a gift card for groceries and a check to help with medical bills. The most magical part for me, as his mother, was seeing his face light up and watching him just be a kid. I will forever be grateful to Bianca's Kids for this gift and I hope to one day give back so that they may continue to bless other children. I also want to say that I was never made to feel like a charity case or bother but more like a friend or family member.
