I worked for the Salvation Army as a Case Aide in a Women's Shelter located in Dallas, TX. I thought this was a great opportunity to serve others who greatly needed it. However, during my service I was surrounded by people who were very ill. It was very difficult because I would get very sick due to being surrounded by ill individuals. I had to utilize the emergency room and hospital constantly. This caused me to be overwhelmed with medical bills that have now impacted my credit report and made it difficult to find other work.

When I notified the Salvation Army about this, they did not offer to help and ignored me. They're response was so cold-hearted and made me feel like they had no concern in regards to the amount of impact the medical bills have had on my life. The aftermath of it all dealing with various collection agencies and seeing the impact of the bills on my credit report has truly devastated me. I feel helpless.
