There are many environmental organizations working to mitigate climate change. I've chosen to give my time to Citizens' Climate Education because it focuses on national legislation, which will have an impact that matches the scale of the problem, and its volunteer driven. This is an organization that concentrates on providing excellent training to its volunteers and then trusts them to do its work. This unleashes their creativity and makes them invested in the organization. As a volunteer, I've found myself doing things I never thought I could do. I was the liaison to the office of my Member of Congress. I've written letters to the editor that have been published. I've organized and recruited volunteers for many grassroots tabling events. Volunteering with Citizens' Climate has empowered me and increased my self-confidence. And I've made so many friends while doing these things, people who share my concern about climate change and who are also working to mitigate it. I highly recommend volunteering with Citizens' Climate Education to have the most effect on finding solutions to climate change. And did I mention its ethos of having respectful conversations with people of all political leanings? This organization is simply the best!

I'm a volunteer driver for Neighbor Ride. I enjoy getting to know the folks I drive. And I like that I can do it whenever I have some free time in my schedule; I don't have to commit to a certain time every week, and I don't have to find a substitute when I go on vacation. So flexibility is important to me as a driver.
