Review for The Wild Animal Sanctuary, Keenesburg, CO, USA
I live in Sydney Australia, and in 2009 I had the fortunate opprotunity to visit Colorado 3 times. Before leaving I was searching for something and to be honest I now have no idea what it was, when i found the link to the Animal Sanctuary. Well I guess you could say there went the next 2 or so days of any work being done as my 14 year old son and I trawled through the site and watched every video and read every story. That was the begining of our love for this amazing facility and the incredibly passionate family of staff and volunteers who make it possible. Of course as I was visitng Colorado there was no way I could not go and see for myself if this place was as great as it sounded. Well it was and more so, I had sent Pat Craig an email to let him know that I was hoping to visit and learn more about the Sanctuary to which he kindly replied. That afternoon this incredibly busy man gave up 3 hours of his time to show and explain the facility, I was hooked and needed to let everyone know that this place needed financial assistance to continue its amazing work and unfortunately this is a need that is not going to cease in the too near future. I adopted Nadia (Grizzly) and Hamilton (Tiger) there on the spot. In the 10 days I was in Colorado that trip I had 3 visits to the Sanctuary to sit and take it all in and not to mention lots of great photos to bring home. Two months later it was October and I and my 13 year old daughter and 14 year old son who has Aspergers Syndrome returned to the Sanctuary with a truck load of Apples and a big surprise was in store for us. My Son was able to meet with Pat and his son Casey who gave selflessly of their valuable time to spend with us and the animals, sharing stories and answering questions from my son who had absorbed all the information he had learnt from researching on the web about the Sanctuary and these amazing animals. We have now visited The Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Centre 6 times and to see the work that these people do and the love and passion that they have for their work is amazing. Pat and his crew do this not for the money as there is none, nor for the praise of others. They do it for the animals that they have rescued and the ones that are still to be rescued who are living in terrible conditions somewhere. Noone can visit either the Sanctuary itself or the website without shedding a tear or feeling sadness and happiness at the same time for the lives that these animals have had and are now enjoying at last. Pat has a motto that I have here on my computer everyday and urge everyone to think about; 'Saving one animal may not change the world, but for that one animal the world changes forever!!!' have a think about it.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The look on my son's face and the involvement of my children with me in trying to spread the word here in Australia about Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Centre, is priceless. Would I like to see more financial assistance for the Centre? Absolutely!
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Ensure that everyone knew how important it was for the Centre to acquire the adjacent land so as they may grow to accomodate the animals in the way that is required and at the same time providing an education facility for the public and students to visit.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The opportunity to learn and share with others how important these animals are. To appreciate how beautiful they are when up close and in a less captive environment.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
The Staff and volunteers are all passionate and share the same desire to make life better for these animals. They work tirelessly in the freezing snow and the heat of the Sun in summer, knowing that regardless these animals need caring for.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Wow! That would give them the land needed to build more habitat for the animals and stop the urban development from endangering the growth of the facility as it stands today. Provide an Education facility for the public and student alike to learn
Ways to make it better...
I had a million dollars to donate so as to provide much needed help!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Seeking financial assistance from Business as well as Government and other Grants made available to worthy non profit organisations.
One thing I'd also say is that...
This is not just another cause asking for assistance, it is not just a facility it is a growing group of people with an enormous passion for saving endangered and tortured animals giving them a life back and educating us humans that still have a heart.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
