Review for SHARE Self-Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancers, Inc., New York, NY, USA
Share is a wonderful grass-roots organization that keeps evolving to address the needs of women with breast and ovarian cancer. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to make a decision about my treatment, I called the hot line and talked to someone who helped me brainstorm. Later, when I was considering whether to have reconstruction after a bilateral mastectomy, I called the hot line and was paired with a peer match: a woman who had had a mastectomy without reconstruction who talked to me frankly about what it felt like, how she dressed, whether she had regrets. I was so moved by the help I got from Share that I now volunteer on the hot line myself!
