Review for The Parent-Child Home Program, Mineola, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Parent-Child Home Program is the single most glowing opportunity for school readiness on the part of children whose life situations would usually work to deny them this readiness. Why?

Most children who succeed in school do so because they began school at age 5 with strong vocabularies. Most children who struggle lack these vocabularies. Where do these vocabularies come from? Their primary source is verbal interaction with parents from the earliest of ages; from being read to and played with with a constant flow of words.

The Parent-Child Home Program accomplishes exactly this end with two and three year-olds. There are many fine early childhood programs, but most of them simply start too late. Most of the assets or liabilities to a child's school success are present by age 5. The Parent-Child Home Program adds considerably to a child's verbal assets and greatly reduces liabilities before he/she ever gets to school.

As a result of this intervention, Parent-Child "graduates" experience educational success at a level equal to and beyond that of classmates who did not face the same obstacles. In addition to this success, research clearly indicates enormous monetary savings to school districts from reduced/eliminated needs for Special Needs and/or remedial services.
