Review for Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization, Diamond Bar, CA, USA
The Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization is a wonderful organization that inspires its members to greatness, and shows them how to use their skills for positive impact for the self confidence needed to excel at a high level of excellence in individual and team performances. These High School and College student performers show a great commitment to themselves and to their leaders as well. Pacific Crest is run by very ethical and caring individuals who give up their time at basically no compensation. The performers and staff come from all over Southern California and some other western states and are together for approx. 8 months. The friendships made and life-long relationships established make the whole experience very worthwhile for Pacific Crest members. As one of the performers commented, “I not only joined a top-performing group, I learned that I had also joined one of the greatest types of families you could imagine.” Although the Pacific Crest members pay tuition, additional cost of up to $125,000 is required per year to offer this world class experience for Southern California’s youth performers. Pacific Crest solely supports itself by generous gifts and grants from the community and local and regional businesses, foundations and other donors. I can attest that every dollar is spent wisely and for the enrichment of these student performers. My daughter's experience in this group was more positive than words can express and the memories will be with her for a lifetime! She is now volunteering her time to assist with sales of group merchandise to group members and the general public at the performances, various camps and rehearsals.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Try and solicit additional larger sponsors
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
MAKING FRIENDS WITH SOME OF THE BEST PEOPLE I'VE EVER MET!
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
very dedicated individuals who wanted to make a difference in the lives of students
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Compete with the top Drum Corp. groups in the USA for top honors!
Ways to make it better...
I would have had more time to support them
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Raising additional funding above and beyond the tuition received and controlling costs
One thing I'd also say is that...
DCI Org. needs to do more to help the "mid-major" types of Drum Corp. organizations in order to keep them competitive with the larger corps. and to limit travel to the championships for those not that close to Indianapolis, IN.
