Review for Rose of Sharon Equestrian School, Inc., Glen Arm, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My son, dx autism, absolutely loved to go to Rose of Sharon to ride his favorite horse, Izzy. Joan and Karen worked with him on his communication and on following directions. The physical movement helped him with his balance and core strength. I would recommend Rose of Sharon to any parent - my son was treated with respect and he had a fantastic time!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

...the way my son responded to the animals and the staff was remarkable. He was always so excited to go; he didn't think of it as "work". The horses have a way of calming him, making communication more fluid for him.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

...finish the indoor rink! The one down side was that weather could shut down his ability to ride. It would be wonderful if the indoor rink could be completed so kids don't have to be disappointed if the weather is bad.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

...watching my son grow.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

...very special! Patient, well-trained, careful, respectful, supportive!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

...finish the indoor ring, hire full time staff, serve more children!

Ways to make it better...

...Rose of Sharon had an indoor riding ring.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

...finding funding to finish the indoor riding ring.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Joan has a beautiful vision to use these magnificent animals as a bridge for connecting with special children. She has an earnest desire to see her students grow and do well.
