Review for Adopt a Cat Foundation Inc, Lake Park, FL, USA
I have been a volunteer with Adopt A Cat (AAC) for over 7 years. I have endless admiration for my fellow volunteers who hold the place together despite a shortage of virtually everything. The resale store run by volunteers is open six days a week. The shelter is now cleaned and maintained entirely by volunteers. All cat care, socialization and adoption efforts continue through the dedication of a core group of caregivers. Nobody is getting paid to do anything and they frequently spend money out of their own pockets to meet the needs of the cats.
On top of this we are preparing for our annual fundraiser which entails sending a mass mailing of over 4,000 letters, selling tickets, contacting merchants and asking for donations to auction and then staffing the event the night it happens. Again, all of this is done by volunteers.
Please help us by supporting our efforts with any donation you can afford, knowing that we use it solely to help rescue cats here in Palm Beach County.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Try to get a larger group of volunteers to lessen the load on the current group.

Adopt A Cat Volunteer and contributor
Founded over 25 years ago we continue to be the only feline devoted, no-kill shelter in Palm Beach County, Florida.
As both a contributor to, and volunteer for the Adopt-A-Cat Foundation (AAC), for over four years now, I encourage all of those who visit this website to join me as either or both a contributor and or volunteer. Both the cats and the people involved are wonderful and would be eternally grateful to you.
First, contributions are always welcome, it is expensive to care for and feed the hundreds of cats we have in our care, and we need money to do that. I can attest to the power of even small donations leveraged by the hard work of our volunteers. Late last year I contributed a few hundred dollars for the postage and envelopes needed for our year end donation appeal. We hand wrote the letters and addressed envelopes resulting in a year-end financial boost at minimum cost. Any amount large or small, one time or recurring, can be leveraged to work wonders.
Please feel free to contact us for information on legacy bequests or other larger donations, such as shelter naming rights or underwriting our fund raising Spay Catti Dinner.
Second, new volunteers are immediately loved. We have a core, but need more. Adopt-A-Cat has many different ways you can volunteer your time to help us, help the cats. Our resale store in Plaza del Mar, Jupiter, FL, needs several more volunteers who can learn to work the cash register, or process in coming donations. You can volunteer in our store for as little as a single 4 hour shift, once a week. During my shifts, I have met many wonderful customers, and BONUS - bought some very reasonably priced designer clothes and quality housewares.
If you prefer to work directly with the cats, we have two shelters full of them. We need volunteers to come in and socialize them through playing, brushing and trimming their nails. For those who prefer to get their hands dirty, shifts cleaning litter boxes, mopping the floors and washing towels are available. As a shelter cleaner, I guarantee that regardless of what you do at the shelter, you will meet, interact and be loved by many of the affectionate adoptable cats we have in our care.
Vets, techs, grant writers or fund raisers, snowbird or full time resident, EVERYONE is welcome. Got other skills you want to apply to our cat rescue mission, please contact us and we will find you a way to help save and improve the lives of our cats.
