Review for Single Mothers Outreach Inc, Newhall, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As a single mother that moved to Santa Clarita in 2006, I was and still am amazed at how a God sent, an amazing organization has given to our communty in such big ways. When I had not enough money for Christmas for my son and SMO poured out their giving heart to make sure my son had 3 great Christmas by partnering with churches, retailers, and personal donations, all I could do was be appreciative and have cried alone in my bed for such kindness many times. When it was mothers day every year, SMO had gone beyond my expectation to make us mothers feel sooo good when our children wanted to also see us as mothers happy and celebrate with our children. The best mothers day for me is when SMO treated the mothers to Magic Mountain and fed us. I was so honored and amazed again. SMO has gone out their way for the summer months to put together some events at the park with our families to enjoy the parks musical talents. The resources for educating parents that desire to achieve, and improve their lives from SMO has been excellent experiences for building our self esteem and our determinations. SMO has shared job opportunites for some of the mothers who needed job seeking help. SMO is an organization that is rare, and appreciated. Had it not been for SMO, I would have had more sad days and holidays, but I thank God for SMO who really cares for the moms in the Santa Clarita community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've experienced dedication from SMO. The director DeAnne Smith and her assistant Teresa have personally saw to it that children of the single mom's recieved back to school packages. How appreciated I was to volunteer and see the smiles on other mothers.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Hold more meetings for improvements and ideas coming from the clients with an open floor, then with a professional team to collaborate what the clients are requesting and their needs are.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The outing events and education experiences at designated colleges.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Teresa and DeAnne!!!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Do the things the organization has been wanting to do such as, helping mothers afford going back to school through scholarships.

Ways to make it better...

SMO needs more grants to dedicate themselves more to the increasing clients

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of funds to be the things they generally can do. However, in 2010, SMO has been in great need for a larger grant. The reason I say this because SMO has not been able to do what they have done this year from certain event

One thing I'd also say is that...

SMO is an organization any single mother would wish to have in her community as well.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Client Served & I am a SMO client.
