Review for Single Mothers Outreach Inc, Newhall, CA, USA
When I walked out on an abusive relationship I was faced with providing for my 4 children and returning to the workforce after 18 years as a stayat home Mom. In the 8 years I have been part of this organization they have given me hop, knowledge, and even better self esteem to go after what I want and to embrace the strengths I posess as a mother and as a woman. I am working in the entertainment industry and I am the only one in my company without a degree but I am swiftly advancing in the company and have SMO to thank for helping me find myself in the middle of a overwhelming amount of chaos and negativity of a messy and draining divorce. They have had group therapy, seminars and workshops for everything from parenting to financial stability. They have helped me pay for a few bills when I thought things would have been shut off. They have provided fun days for my kids that I never would have been able to afford on my own at the time. Like a day at Magic Mountain with an amazing lunch buffet. SMO is a huge part of the success I am now enjoying in so many levels.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
My job, my personal life, and in the lives of my children
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
get them a better office to operate from and get vans that can pick people up for events or job interviews and spread this organization to other cities. Their is such a need for this and welfare keeps people down SMO lifts you up
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
They have taken me by the hand and led me as a scared and overwhelmed mother to a strong and confident woman who is chasing my dreams while being the mother I want to be.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Understanding,non-judgmental, and always open for new ideas
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Expand services and add departments like a legal department or a tax department. They could buy some vehicles to aid in transportation to and from classes, job interviews and events
Ways to make it better...
I would have had legal assistance in the beginning. I needed to have the retainer paid to secure a good attorney and was dragged through a lot just due to lack of legal advice or intervention
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Lack of funds and a lack of office space. They could really use their own shuttle service to get people to the events or to job interviews if you lack transportation in the beginning of your journey with them
One thing I'd also say is that...
SMO changed my life. I don't know where I would be without them. DaAnne Smith has been my angel.
