Review for Assistance League of Charlotte, CHARLOTTE, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I was really just dropping some stuff off, or at least that is how it started... But the problem is, the people who volunteer at Assistance League of Charlotte are just so nice, they sort of suck you into a conversation. They're excited about what they do, and that rubs off on the people they talk to. So when I realized that I might be of some assistance, it didn't take long for me to want to help... That was almost a year ago. And in that time, I've come to realize that even making a little difference, can mean a lot to the right person. That time volunteered, doesn't mean that the work is unrewarding. And being part of something good, can actually be something great.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the faces of people, who for the first time, are getting the chance to step into a world that most of us take for granted - the world of technology.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

have to have a much better understanding of the organization as a whole, before I started to make recommendations.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the people... They are what got me interested, and they are what keep me coming back.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, excited, pleasant, accepting, helpful... basically - the best.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

... it would.... help more people. They've got the basics down.. They help. They help a lot of people. So more money will allow them to expand the programs they already have, and maybe a few more that just aren't possible right now.

Ways to make it better...

... nothing... It's been a great experience.. Any complaints I might come up with are petty little things that really don't matter.. (it's cold in winter - so what. it's hot in summer - same response. And this is the best I can come up with).

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finding enough room to get all the donated materials into view of potential customers.

One thing I'd also say is that...

.. I have nothing to put here...

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Volunteer & I help refurbish donated computers and computer equipment, to be resold in the thrift shop. This allows people who might not be able to afford a computer otherwise, access to an essential tool.
