I feel incredibly grateful and lucky to have connected with Esta and Saffyre. After reading The Tao of Equus 10 years ago, working in equine assisted therapy has been a dream of mine. Enter Katie, a wonderful woman working in this field, who in turn introduced me to her mentor Esta. I took a few courses with Katie which were enlightening, then went on to volunteer at the sanctuary. Esta generously shares her knowledge of everything regarding horses, from care and nutrition to healing therapy work. She also helped me overcome my nervousness around horses and build my confidence.
The deep, transformational care the rescue horses receive is inspirational. It makes you wish all horses could be treated so well.
I have taken 9 people to help volunteer at Saffyre and every one of them has come away feeling better about themselves, more deeply connected, and they all want to go back. If you have the chance to volunteer or donate please do. The positive role this charity plays in the world needs to not only continue, but expand.
