Review for Hollaback!, Brooklyn, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Hollaback addresses gender-based violence in public spaces, in a safe, easy and empowering way. We believe that ending sexual harassment and violence in public spaces will be the defining feminist issue for the current generation of activists, much like addressing workplace sexual harassment was decades ago.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

creating a new media platform to track when and where harassment happens, Hollaback will soon be an important catalyst that challenges social norms, engages communities, pushes for tougher laws, and eventually ends sexual harassment.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

working with Emily and the other Hollaback co-founders is rewarding and enriching. I'm so excited to help leverage my experience and their successful track record, to take this work to the next level.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

passionate, dedicated, experts in their fields and going the extra mile to make Hollaback a success!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

roll out a global engagement program, with comprehensive community organizing and education campaigns, that linked harassment activists around the world to realize systemic change!

Review for RightRides For Women's Safety Inc, Brooklyn, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

RightRides for Women's Safety is a wonderful example of a community-led and community-driven organization. Our free, late night ride home program has driven 3,000 riders home safely thanks to 150 driving team volunteers. We're also a founding member of New Yorkers for Safe Transit, working to make NYC mass transit free from sexual harassment and assault. Our work is necessary and it's empowering to be part of it. It's exciting to see so many people take the time and volunteer to ensure the safety of others, and where people can become involved in growing and shaping a grassroots movement to address gender-based violence.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

volunteering and learning the stories of assault first-hand that people face, it underscores to me why this work is so important. As our motto states, "Because Getting Home Safely Shouldn't Be A Luxury"

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting other volunteers! Everyone is really passionate about making a difference, ending gender-based violence and they're a great group of people from all walks of life.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand nationwide and operate RightRides 24/7!
