Review for CHASE for Life, Little Silver, NJ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

On August 28th, 2005, my 2 year old daughter, Chase, survived a near drowning incident thanks to my husband’s quick response and his "optional" education in infant/child CPR & choking maneuvers. Recognizing that we had been spared, we decided to give back by founding CHASE for Life, hoping that by sharing our story more people would become inspired to get educated therefore creating more happy endings as a result. This priceless, lifesaving education should be FREE and readily available...... not optional. I am proud to say that my husband’s breath which saved Chase that near-fateful day has gone on to save countless others. C.H.A.S.E. for Life (http://www.chaseforlife.org/ stands for CPR-Health Awareness & Safety Education. Our mission is to empower anyone with a hand on a child with the basic lifesaving skills needed to sustain a life in an emergency until help can take over. CHASE was created to remove the barriers that often prevent people from getting educated. Unfortunately, the majority of our population does not make the commitment towards getting educated due to the lack of time, resourcefulness, convenience and finances. "Unintentional" injury is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 14. Car accidents lead the statistics followed by drowning and choking. From the minute an accident happens until someone calls 911 the clock is unforgiving and ticking. How one reacts in the first 5 minutes of a crises is crucial because the average ambulance response time in the U.S. is between 5 and 15 minutes. Most people do not know that brain damage occurs due to lack of oxygen to the brain in just 5 minutes and that brain death is highly likely after 6 minutes. With 20 years in the fashion industry, it was very natural for me to take this dated, anxiety causing education and give it a much needed modernized facelift. CHASE demystifies infant/child CPR and Choking Maneuver techniques by enlisting help from fashion, rock and animation. We are NOT reinventing the wheel, just repackaging it in an easy to understand, likeable, modern format. We created an 18 minute animated instructional short called "How to Save a Life" (modeled after School House Rock) Through the use of repetition, visual demonstration, educational songs and graphic buzz words simulating the action, we educate in a universally user-friendly way. We created an iconic character named "Paddy the Penguin" whom we envision becoming synonymous with CPR instruction like Smokey the Bear is to fire prevention. We have an educational web site along with FREE modern resources in addition to our film such as CPR and Choking Maneuver pocket guides and posters along with an educational coloring book. All of our resources have since been translated into Spanish. "How to Save a Life" was created with the intentions of it (1) being shown nationally within hospitals as a part of maternity discharge policy and procedure via closed circuit educational programming systems available to all patients, (2) becoming a prerequisite in elementary & middle school health education classes, (3) becoming a part of DMV protocol when securing a restricted license or when getting a revoked license reinstated. The sky is the limit...our goal is to have the general public consume our FREE resources at least 3 times in their lives. The Bee Gees gave us the rights to "Stayin Alive" for 5 years pro-gratis to help further our brand and we are currently pursuing additional celebrity alignment to bring prominent faces to such a no-brainer/worthwhile cause. C.H.A.S.E. empowers anyone with a hand on a child (ages 0 to 14) in the basic lifesaving skills needed to sustain a life in a crises. Our mission was not created to protect just newborns but to protect all children. Our goal is to educate parents, grandparents, caretakers, siblings....anyone that may come into contact with a child at any point in an average day. We educate the general public in infant/child CPR and Choking Maneuvers. C.H.A.S.E. was created to change the statistics in this country through FREE prevention education and awareness campaigns. Our goal is obtainable, we have the remedy for a GLOBAL social problem. Thank you for helping us get the word out. Together we can educate parents and caregivers at no charge to ensure more happy endings. Please visit http://www.chaseforlife.org/.
