Review for North Beach Citizens, San Francisco, CA, USA
What attracted me to North Beach Citizens is the intensive support that the staff provides homeless and other disadvantaged people to empower them to take back their lives and re-integrate into their San Francisco community. The program is peer-based and community-supported: this means that clients are encouraged to re-connect with family, to make new friends with others who are on the same journey, and to know that they live in a community of neighbors, businesses, nonprofits and service agencies that cares and will work with them wherever they might be in life by understanding their individual needs and addressing them. For one person, this means finding veteran housing that can accommodate a service dog; for another, it's supporting rehabilitation by acquiring a donated violin to renew a beloved avocation; for a family, it means food from the food pantry so they don't have to choose between groceries or electricity. For fifteen years, North Beach Citizens has built a trusted and successful organization that is appreciated and loved by its community.

Encourage the organization to scale up, because there are so many communities in the Bay Area and across the United States that would benefit from having a similar organization and services in their community.
