Review for Roots Of Peace, San Rafael, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Roots of Peace (RoP) began in 1997 to remove landmines from war-torn countries, and help farmers plant sustainable, profitable crops. RoP builds schools and soccer fields to provide health and education. Please visit www.rootsofpeace.org and join me in supporting this great hope for the future.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

landmine removal, acres planted, education of farmers, schools built.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

knowing that my contributions are reaching those in need in a way that will achieve lasting growth.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

passionate, intelligent, appreciative and driven.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

clear the entire 200 x 50k DMZ of Vietnam of landmines, aid the farmers to create a substantial breadbasket to S.E. Asia, build schools and have 7 million left to do same in regions of Cambodia and Angola.

Ways to make it better...

I felt more people were aware of this worthwhile organization.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Through RoP, Afghan farmers can now earn $3500 - $5500 per acre of crops such as grapes and almonds, instead of $1800 per acre of opium poppies. This education helps to eradicate a major source of heroin and income to terrorists.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2008

Role:  Volunteer & Funded the planting of 30 trees at a school in Afghanistan to provide shade for the students.
