WWP has been exceptionally wonderful. It hasn't been a year yet that I've been separated from the military, and my wounds are still healing, emotionally, mentally, and physically. But being able to participate in various programs and events like taking part in a Soldier Ride and the Peer support groups, and having a peer mentor has tremendously helped me along in my healing process. During the first couple of months of being medically retired, I was angry and felt thrown away. I cried when I focused in on the WWP logo because I knew that I used to be the strong Soldier, being able to carry my battle buddy. But the Wounded Warrior Project has been there with me during my journey every step of the way. I know that I still have a long journey ahead of me, but it doesn't look so bleak knowing the Wounded Warrior Project is there to support and carry veterans like me.
