My Nonprofit Reviews

T.L.
Review for National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., Frisco, TX, USA
Three years ago, I met one of my best friends. We did almost everything together, and we adapted each other's hobbies-- one of her hobbies was origami. She quickly taught me many of her favorite pieces, and origami became my passion as well as hers.
We later realized that our new passion could be used to help people-- many people asked if they could have something made specially for them. My friend and I went on (with several other friends) to raise money for the school library by selling origami.
We soon realized we wanted to do something even bigger-- not that a library was not an honest cause, but we wanted to do something that could help change a life. Inspired by a school spirit day to raise awareness for breast cancer, the National Breast Cancer Foundation became our donor's choice of charity.
Over the course of two fundraisers and less than a year, my friend and I made and sold origami at school. We raised over $1,000 for the NBCF, and all the while we were supported by the NBCF. Emails were sent back in forth in communication-- never pushy or urgent or demanding. They sent us ribbons, stickers, and informative pamphlets to help with sales, and consistently checked in with us to ask if there was something they could do to help. They even showcased one of our origami pictures on their Facebook page, which was more than what we could ask for.
Throughout our fundraising experience, the NBCF has done so much to help us and others. Thank you, NBCF, for everything that you do; it has been an honor to work with such a life-changing organization.
If I were to begin another fundraiser, this nonprofit organization would easily be my choice.
Thanks for sharing about your experience, T.L.! We are so glad to hear that your fundraiser was a success and you felt supported at every step. We appreciate you!
