Review for Bais Chana Women International Inc, Brooklyn, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Bais Chana is a Jewish, Chabad-Lubavitch program that runs retreats for teenage girls and women. I attended Jewish Un-Camp, the teenage program, and I visited a woman's retreat. All three of the experiences were hands down the most amazing, life changing, empowering experiences I have ever had. I arrived lost, confused and nervous, but after only a few minutes I had met girls of all ages that would turn out to be my closest friends. The weekend started with ice breakers to help us get to know one another better and get conversations flowing. We then went on to do amazing activities like improv games, art projects and zumba classes. All of the activities were a lot of fun, but I feel that there are two things that make Bais Chana so amazing: the people you meet, and the open, highly informative conversations you will have with Rabbi Manis Friedman. Every single teenager or woman will find amazing friendships at Bais Chana. Everyone accepts you for exactly who you are, regardless of your back round. You are Jewish, and that's what matters. I think a classic Bais Chana experience is having a deep, three hour conversation with someone you just met, and feeling like you have known them forever after just one day. The Rabbi's talks are equally amazing. One can ask any question that is on their mind, and they will know that they will get an honest, true answer that they can understand and apply to their lives. Teenagers can go and get an answer to any question they have, whether its a question from the Rabbi, a counselor, or another camper. The teenage years are a time when people are usually lost and searching. Bais Chana gives girls a solid idea of their purpose, who they are, and the direction they are meant to follow. As a result, the girls are more mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy when they return from the program. Most of them also return with a whole bunch of deep connections. They have strong connections with their new girlfriends, their counselors, and most importantly G-d, which I think is the ultimate goal of a religious program. Every single Jewish woman should go to Bais Chana.
