Rikki's Refuge - how can I describe you? Perhaps the happiest place on earth. I think the most compassionate people on earth work there. They make every single animal feel at home. They care more about the animals' happiness than about their own. They do every thing for them. Wonderful place, wonderful people.

Do I love this place? Oh yeah !!!! It's amazing how they care for so many animals on such a small budget. And do it so wonderfully. Even the very very elderly ones are so so happy. And you can just tell how much the caretakers really care. You can see the love in their eyes. Such a gift to our planet. I wish everyone cared about animals like these people do.

If that doesn't say it all. I still have this christmas card from Rikki's Refuge hanging over my desk at work. It makes me so happy to look at all those animals I watched go from sad to glad at Rikki's Refuge. If you want to be happy then go volunteer there. Being with the happy animals who have truly found peace on earth at Rikki's Refuge is the most wonderful thing in the world. I'm going to volunteer there as much as I can for the rest of my life.

Rikki's Refuge. What can I say except WOW. Just WOW. When I'm able to visit I see the changes, the improvements, more animals, more houses. It's bigger and better every time I get to take my family for a visit. I always knew they were doing wonderful work for the animals. I never thought about the people they help too. Not until my mother's condition meant she had to move into an advanced care facility. They would not allow her pets to come. I didn't know what to do. I could not take them home because I have pets that might have killed them. I could not take somebody my mother loved to a pound and risk them being killed. Most organizations said they were too old to be adopted. Rikki's is letting them live their retirement years at the refuge. I think that is so nice. I can visit them and was even able to take them to visit my mom a few times before she passed. I will never forget the relief for me and my mother when Rikki's opened their doors for us. I can't wait to visit again. I just love that place.

I'm an assistant in a special ed class and we take kids out to Rikki's Refuge during the school year. We've been doing this for years. The kids get to interact with the animals, and to do useful things like helping to clean up that gives them a lot of self respect. We have emotionally, intellectually and physically challenged kids ... and it's really wonderful to see them grown and learn and to feel so appreciated at Rikki's Refuge. Knowing many of the animals had sad stories too gives the kids something to relate to and it helps them open up and talk out some problems. Rikki's has given us a wonderful opportunity to help hundreds of kids over the years. They may be there for the animals .... but they really help the people too.
