Chemo Comfort is a nonprofit that does direct service, working with people currently undergoing chemo treatment, trying to make their experience a little more enjoyable. The NGO puts together kits with products that include educational materials (books and flyers), food related products (tea, ginger based candy) and clothing products, all tested and found useful by previous patients.
The NGO values volunteers and offers a pleasant atmosphere and work space. The volunteers are from all age ranges: high schoolers, college students, people who are currently working but who want to volunteer in their spare time, and retired individuals. It is a place where, personally, I made friends and to which I look forward to returning every week.
The NGO has a table at important events in the field every year (e.g. Race for the Cure), for those interested in learning more about the organization, talking to the volunteers and getting involved.
