Review for Animal Rescue League of Boston, Dedham, MA, USA
On a unseasonably warm February day in Boston, a coworker and myself brought some of clients with intellectual disabilities to the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
The clients who attend our day hab program made homemade dog treat and cat toys for animals in shelter. When the shelter staff brought the clients to where the dogs were staying, there was one older lady who walked right up our clients.
This lady was named Maya, a German Shepard/greyhound mix. Two days later my fiance and I took Maya home. We celebrated her one year adoption with us this past Monday and we celebrate her 12th birthday in May. Maya has brought us so much joy; she is the first to greet you at the door and protect you from suspicious looking squirrels.
We are extremely grateful we able to give this sweet senior lady a home and we love her so much for trusting us as pet parents.
Thank you ARL for all the great work that you do!

Review for The Next Step Fund, Inc., Cambridge, MA, USA
I was diagnosed with leukemia in 1990 at the ages of five. I was isolated and stigmatized by classmates and school staff alike. Not until I started attending the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp would I begin to feel comfortable with myself and speaking and smiling.
Then when I turned 16 and too old for camp, Next Step came along and changed me life. As a young adult they gave me confidence and skills I carry through my life, abs today I am able to volunteer with amazing youth!
