I have volunteered with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria for almost a year. I find shelter staff to be incredibly conscientious and dedicated to doing what is best for the animals who they see (in whatever capacity) and also the people who use their services (either to adopt, to surrender their animals, or to bring in a "stray" they have found). The staff is comprised of true animal lovers who also care deeply about people. A winning combination!
