Review for Ssubi Foundation aka Ssubi is Hope, San Diego, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my gratitude to Laura Luxemburg and her wonderful non-profit organization www.ssubi.org for their generous donations of a standard wheelchair and an electric wheelchair for my friend James (JP) Hawkins. While JP was living in Thailand, some botched medical care led to having his right leg amputated below the knee. He is totally dependent upon a wheelchair or a walker for his mobility. JP is on a limited fixed income and cannot afford an electric wheelchair. We have been trying for over a year to get him one but the paperwork has been rejected repeatedly. Meanwhile, his regular wheelchair broke down and he has basically been house-bound for a long time. He has sole custody of his 13-year old son and has been unable to enjoy most normal father-son activities because of these circumstances.

Recently I met Laura Luxemburg where SSUBI has been storing a variety of medical equipment thanks to the generosity of Coleman University. When I saw their inventory of wheelchairs, I asked if there was any possibility of getting one donated for my friend. Laura said "Yes" and let me pick one out. As luck would have it, SSUBI also had some used electric wheelchairs that still worked. Even used ones cost several hundred dollars. I decided to push my luck and asked if we could also get one of those. Without hesitation, she gave me my choice of several chairs.

We were able to get everything delivered to JP and he said it has literally changed his life. Just today he texted me this: "I thank you and I love my electric wheelchair. That alone has changed my life immeasurably." He can now easily get out of his apartment and even play a little baseball with his son.

We are extremely grateful to Laura and SSUBI for providing this kind of local support and assistance to those in need. She and SSUBI are truly changing people's lives.

Sincerely,

Dan Wolfson
