Review for Ocean River Institute Inc, Cambridge, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

ORI partners with other non-profits to support them both financially and with promotion efforts and I find that refreshing and unique. They really understand that we are all working towards important causes and doing so together can result in a bigger better outcome.I have been volunteering with the Ocean River Institute since October 2009. I first worked with them at a 350 event in Boston, and continue to volunteer with them about once a week. I have edited e-alerts, learned about ocean issues, attended a partnership meeting, made phone calls, learned EMMA (e-mail marketing program), helped with social media tools and had a lot of fun. I support ORI through volunteer work because I love volunteering, care greatly about the environment and water issues effecting the environment, and have a passion for learning. I praise the efforts of this great VERY SMALL non-profit group and always wish them the best of luck!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the feedback of e-alert campaigns, and knowing that there are a lot of people who care about the ocean issues that ORI is tackling.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

help them hire more staff so they could do more.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their passion for helping create change in policy and educating the public about important issues.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very kind, caring, passionate people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save the oceans, clean up the oil spills, change ocean policy, help the environment!

Ways to make it better...

they could hire me =). No, I'm kidding, it's a really great organization and I can't think of what they could do better.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of funds, small staff, maybe thinking too globally...?

One thing I'd also say is that...

the oceans and waters of earth really need our help! Reduce reuse recycle and rethink (upcycle!)

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010
