Review for Martell's Landing Education Center, Somerset, WI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have had the opportunity to walk to grounds, visit the river, and see a house as it was so many years ago. We live in a 'bigger is better' world, but I found the house quaint and charming. You could almost picture a family, around the fire, on a cold winter night. The property and the house have a calming ambience.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

being able to enjoy a few hours of peace and calm in this hectic world.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the people genuinely care about the area and the preservation of the nature that abounds there.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly and helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand facilities, hire permanent staff, create a library of books, pictures, videos, etc. about the history of the property and the history of the area. They could also offer programs to teachers to pass on to their children.

Ways to make it better...

I had an opportunity to stay a night in the house. I think that would have been very special. I would have liked to see and hear more about the history of the area and the property.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

needing more volunteers and additional monies to fund more programs - especially programs that would offer a respite to the adults who find themselves on the proverbial treatmill.

One thing I'd also say is that...

it is unfortunate that we do not have more places like Martells. It would serve us well to take lessons from the past.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
