Review for Wild Ones -- Natural Landscapers Ltd, Appleton, WI, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I was chair of a local group that had been promoting the use of Native Plants for rain gardens, stream and and lake riparian buffers. We were looking for a national organiztion to be associated with that believed in and supported our values. Wild Ones was the perfect match.....They help give us more legitimacy and we can use the national organization to help promote ourselves and our mutual objectives. Increasing the use of native plants in our communities is an important step in improving our sustainable bio-diverse environments that as a nation we a losing

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

We have had 30-40 people attend our monthly meetings to listen and learn from our speakers........we have also been able to grow our base organization from around 12 to 21 as a result of forming the Wild ones chapter

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Create a position of Chapter liaison to champion chapter issues and provide direct communication to national unfilterd. New chapter mentoring would be high on my list

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The national organization is well respected and also a great resource for information, and resource leads

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very willing to help and point you in the right direction.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Really help change the world. The many benefits of native plants are lost on most people.....they find it hard to understand the cycle of life from the right plants attract the right insects, that attract the right animals to cr

Ways to make it better...

I think the lag time in follow up on a number of issues needs to be improved. For example.......a push for new members was being pushed early this year and the promotion was a book or DVD......we are still waiting for the DVE 3 months later

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Promoting their agenda without coming across as radicals.. Getting people to understand the benefits of supporting the need for more native plant communities and corridors

One thing I'd also say is that...

I would like to see more PR from National that can be used or benefited by the local chapters.......makes those dues help the local chapters grow and become more accepted

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010
