Review for EcoLogic Development Fund, Cambridge, MA, USA
My experience at EcoLogic has been great. I have seen how EcoLogic has helped poor rural communities in Central America and Mexico become environmental stewards and how this has also contributed to improve many of these people's living conditions. I have personally been part of this effort and have been surrounded by an awesome group of people who are eager to help conserve forests and water, while helping the people who depend on these resources organize and improve the ways they manage the latter. I have also met several of the donors, incredible people without which all this work might not have been possible. I was very happy to be part of this team effort to make the world a better place.

increase the number of staff members since EcoLogic has many projects and a limited number of people working on many things at the time.

I have enjoyed helping communicate EcoLogic's message and have understood how important it is to help people who have the desire to improve their living conditions while taking care of the environment, yet have no resources to do it with.

very passionate people, many trained in the natural sciences, public policy or international development. All of them were very interested in Latin America.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
dramatically increase the impact of their work, helping many more poor people in Central America and Mexico who depend on EcoLogic's aid to improve their livelihoods while preserving the natural resources that their lives depend upon.
Ways to make it better...
I had learnt more about fundraising. Fundraising is one of the most important tasks of the Cambridge office. I worked in the communications area and learnt a lot, yet I felt I needed to understand fundraising, as it is EcoLogic's backbone.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
growing in a way in which they remain loyal to their mission. There are a lot of opportunities for non-profits in Central America and Mexico. EcoLogic might be tempted to enter too many projects instead of focusing in what they are good on.
One thing I'd also say is that...
EcoLogic understands the difficulties people in rural areas in Central America and Mexico experience in their daily lives and moreover, understands how crucial it is to help them conserve natural resources many of which are over exploited.
