I lived in Austin years ago, but only became acquainted over Facebook. Shadow Cats is the model Rescue and Sanctuary for cats who would not be adoptable due to health conditions and/or behavior. Yet, each cat is loved and cared for according to its needs. Some beat the odds and live long, happy lives. Others live a very short time, but each has the best quality of life possible. I can’t really explain why we should continue to support cats when so many humans are suffering . It is not only for these innocent animals, but also for how they and the Shadow Cats people make our lives better. They are a lesson to all of us in compassion, humor, and making the best of every life.

Shadow Cats Rescue tackles the most difficult job of caring for cats with chronic illnesses and other issues that make such animals unadoptable. Yet each cat has a loving home and the best possible care for its long or short life. Through their social media posts, many of us have come to love the cats and admire the wonderful people who care for them. Please consider a donation. They are unique in caring for the cats that are euthanized in even the most humane shelters allowing them to live happy and often remarkably long lives.
