Review for The Freedom To Choose Project, Santa Barbara, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been serving on the Freedom to Choose team since 2013, which has positively changed my life. Everything from working with the curriculum to working with our participants to serving on a team with amazingly open-hearted folks, and being a part of something greater than myself, truly brings out the best in me...every time. We all (volunteers and participants) come together with a common goal, to heal and grow, and we ALL do just that. This is a unique program with so much to offer anyone and everyone who takes part in the program, both folks on the "inside" and those of us who come in from the "free world." It's an opportunity for us all to discover our Divine nature through healing our human wounds...together. With every workshop, or reading Saturday, or any Freedom to Choose event I participate in, I feel I'm doing my little part in making the world a better place. Thank you, Bonnie and David for providing us all an opportunity to do our part!

Serving with the Freedom to Choose team enriches my life in so many ways! It's a beautiful opportunity to be a part of the solution and to be a part of the healing for our entire human family, one "issue" at a time. I'm always amazed at how much healing I experience when we all come together in service to one another in the group, in our correctional system, and in our communities. Freedom to Choose project is a blessing to all and it's an honor and a privilege to be a part of it!

Being a volunteer with the Freedom to Choose Foundation, created by Dr's David and Bonnie Paul, has changed my life forever. Never in my life have I felt more "on purpose" than when I'm serving with this incredible team of loving souls. The unconditional loving, compassion, acceptance, humility, honesty, and forgiveness we all give and receive during the time spent together in the prison projects is indescribable!

But I'll try... There have been many instances that I've forgotten for a time that we are in a prison gym as I'm connecting with another person, another beautiful soul having a prison experience, and am humbled at the recognition that we are all equally held in the Divine Heart of God. It's as if for that time there are no bars, no barbed wire, no walls of any kind. It feels as though we all, for those moments, transcend into Christ Consciousness together as we connect heart to heart. And, we ALL experience profound healing as a result! What comes to mind as I write this is what was written in the Bible that Jesus said, "...For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I will be among them." ~Matthew 18:20 I'm not one to quote the Bible too often, but this passage has new meaning for me as I experience that loving presence every time we come together to do this work.

Hearing the inmates share so openly and deeply about their shifts in consciousness and how they see the world, how they see themselves in the world now, as a result of doing their own healing work and applying their newly acquired skills, is inspiring to say the least! They've often shared that their healing goes beyond themselves and has profoundly impacted their relationships with their families, too!

The Freedom to Choose Foundation is truly Divinely inspired, and is making a positive difference in so many lives, as well as within the prison culture itself! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this team and to have the opportunity to serve humanity in this way. Thank you, Freedom to Choose!!
