After the military, I still had the desire to serve my community but didn’t know how to put that idea into action. I was introduced to the Travis Manion Foundation through my college's veteran association and was told of opportunities to join their Character Does Matter leadership development program. Immediately I was interested in the prospect of using my military experience to work with high school students on developing their own leadership skills throughout a fun, 10-week course. I have now been a part of the program for three iterations and look forward to continuing my volunteering with TMF. Not only do I get to serve my community but by working with TMF in their CDM program and their 9/11 Heroes run, I get to continue to build my own character and fill a desire to serve that was left vacant after leaving service. TMF’s staff is top notch, the Mantra “If not me, then who…” is something that can resonate with anyone, and the organization as a whole is second to none.
