I work at home and have a busy family... but I wanted to do something to give back to my community and specifically to our military. I love animals... especially dogs... so DoD was the perfect solution! I've been involved with DoD for about 18 months and I have boarded 5 fur babies for military members that were deploying. The service members are so very appreciative! Their fur-kids are their family... and I can't imagine anyone losing their family because of a job! I've found the experiences I've had to be fun, exciting, touching, emotional, happy and fulfilling. I've made many new friends within the DoD team and the military members.
Some people feel like fostering pets would be too emotionally difficult when it came time for them to go back home... but the reality is that it's an incredibly uplifting feeling seeing them go crazy when their mama or papa comes home! It's like babysitting... you know they aren't yours but you take care of them and love them as if they were so they can go back to their family.
Dogs On Deployment allows our military members to fulfill their duties knowing their pets are well cared for! The organization is well run and filled with caring, fun, dedicated people!
